BUSINESS VISA

Business visas are granted to individuals looking to initiate a new venture within the country, or to invest in or assume control of an existing enterprise. The key criteria include:

1. A minimum investment of R 5 million towards the business’s book value. However, certain sectors deemed to be of “national interest” may allow for permission to apply with investments below R 5 million. These sectors include agro-processing, BPO and IT enabled services, capital/transport equipment, metals and electrical machinery, electro-technical, textile, clothing, and leather, among others. For investments lower than R 5 million, contact us for an assessment of your eligibility to apply.
2. Endorsement from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), affirming the business’s feasibility and its contribution to South Africa’s national interests.
3. Creation of permanent employment opportunities for at least 60% South African citizens or permanent residents within 12 months.
4. Submission of a comprehensive business plan demonstrating the short and long-term viability of the venture.
5. Exclusion of businesses categorized as “undesirable,” such as those involved in importing second-hand motor vehicles for export outside of South Africa, exotic entertainment, and security services.
